Once again, congrats on winning first place at the competition! It was really fun to work with you guys. Maybe next year you guys can come back and help coach the new Weather or Not students.
Also, if you guys read this, it would be great if you guys could comment below on the topics that were tested at the competition. I am reformatting the entire packet for next year, so it would be nice to know what to emphasize on.
Thank you guys for everything... hopefully we can meet again next year!

Congratulations!
Congratulations on winning 1st place at the competition! I knew you guys were going to win. :)
I might bring something to the final meeting if I can make it. I'm not completely certain on what to do yet, but hopefully I can find something nice.
IMPORTANT: Fill out your answers to the practice multiple choice that I posted daily for the last month. If you get all the questions correct, I'll give you something big (maybe)!

Update
I will be going to Chicago over the weekend, so I will not be able to make the Saturday meeting. I have arranged for someone to give you guys something to work on.
You guys will get another packet on Saturday with information that we never covered. I made it after I saw the District Exam for another region of the state, so hopefully it is able to fill in the gaps for the topics that Weather Wiz Kids never went through.
For the invitational, I think the questions you guys got wrong were 12, 23, 32, 42, 48, 49, 53, and 61 (not sure though since I don't have your scantron). Please double check those questions on the invitational here: http://docs.google.com/document/d/1hIE2i9XBqB-ZWb_VHPL7Wl0QlFmEW5saHR-2QkXfKu0

Saturday Meeting 4/25: Complete Topics 1-4 (you guys can work together).
HW 4/26: Topic 5
HW 4/27: Topic 6
HW 4/28: Topics 7-8
HW 4/29: Topic 9
Thursday Meeting 4/30: Go over answers
Don't do the sample exam yet. We'll save that for later.

Historical Storms
One thing that we never covered this year was historical storms. Just on your free time, look over some historical weather events (most notably hurricanes), because there will be 2 historical storm questions on the invitational.
Don't slack on the essays! Also, be sure that you can answer every single question on the essay sheet (just the idea, you don't have to do it). All of the essay questions on the invitational are questions that you have seen before.
Anyways, start studying! Hopefully we can get 1st... (seriously though, if you don't then you guys didn't study enough since half the questions are repeats)...

Quiz 3/12
I've changed the format of the next quiz, so it's a lot harder. Make sure to study! Don't worry, though, because it will only be preparation for the competition in May.
There is a timed individual section of 24 challenge problems and a group section of 9 easier questions formatted just like the competition (2 stations + 1 essay).
What to study: Unit #11. Please do the homework (Q527-575).

Make sure you have everything done for tomorrow. No quiz tomorrow, but I will give you a schedule outlining everything until the competition.

Quizzes Over Break
Over break, you should finish all of Unit #7 and Unit #8. I know this might be a lot, but it's probably the only time before Invitationals to catch up on stuff.
Here are the four quizzes that you should take during break. You can do them in any order you like, but be sure to finish them before our next meeting on February 26th.
They will not actually be online quizzes since online quizzes are annoying to make and grade (plus you wouldn't have them to study from). So print them out and take them. We will go over the answers at the next meeting.
ALL FOUR QUIZZES ARE DUE AT THE NEXT MEETING ON 2/26

STEM Meeting 1/29
Because you guys have a STEM meeting next Thursday, the test will be pushed to Thursday, February 5th. I have a review packet for you to do at the library next Thursday, but I will not be there since it is a STEM meeting.
Here is the worksheet: http://docs.google.com/document/d/1cOfJ5iTUPaWcdeu6iDoGYgN6G6lkoh86TVrFbV9Vl3I
IMPORTANT: Since I do not want to waste any time, the homework assignment this week will be Unit #10 of the new packet (which you don't have yet). It is located on pages 54 and 55 of the worksheet here (it is on wildfires and volcanoes): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tMFQ2cP8FHsVgI1LFHsVa9jgyUsCxuF5yGTGNuLqZgI (Q501-526). You can print out the two pages if you like. There will not be a quiz on this section because of the midterm you will be having instead. Also, this material will not be on the midterm; the midterm will only cover Units 1-6.
Have a nice STEM meeting and an extra week of studying! Now you have to get a 100%... >:)

Exam Update
Make sure to study the cloud worksheet we did two weeks ago (the one with the joke) as well.
Also, if you guys manage to get above 132/138 (which is a 95%), I might still get you something since a 95% is pretty hard as well. We'll see. :)

Final Exam
The final exam will take place next week, on January 29th. It will cover everything we learned so far.
It will be a group test. There are 78 questions: 72 multiple choice and 6 essays.
The first 72 multiple choice questions consist of 18 stations. Each station contains 4 questions: 2 multiple choice and 2 true/false. The MC questions are worth 2 points each, and the T/F questions are worth 1 point each. You will have 1 minute to answer each station.
The 6 remaining questions will be 1 minute essays, covering any topic we went over this year.
So there are (36 MC x 2 points) + (36 TF x 1 point) + (6 essays x 5 points) = 138 total points.
Here are the rewards:
138/138 - If you guys get a perfect score, I will buy you the thing you wanted (I forgot what it was though). This test will be hard, so a 100% would be an amazing achievement.
125/138 - This is a 90%. If you get over 125 points, we can do something fun the week after. Or anything else you guys would like to do.
111/138 - This is the lowest score you can get to still pass. If you get lower than this, shame on you. (It's an 80%).

Midterm will be on 1/29. And then we start all the important stuff.

Quick Update
If you haven't already, now would be the time to start looking back at the stuff we covered in the beginning of the year. At the end of this month, we will be having a midterm over everything in the packet.
At the next meeting (Jan. 15), we will be taking a quiz on Earth's atmosphere and pressure. We will also go over all the answers to the worksheet, just so you guys can have correct information to study from.
The following week (Jan. 23), we will be at the Plymouth Library. That week, we will be taking our final quiz before the big test. It will be on Humidity and Temperature. I will give out one final packet on that day about some cloud information for you to do, and everything from the beginning to that point will be fair game for the test. Also, we will be doing something fun that day in order to review.
We will be taking our midterm exam on Jan. 29 at Miller. It will be structured like the Science Olympiad test, with timed stations consisting of 4 questions. It will be a group test, and will begin at 4:00pm. Any time before that you can use to study, ask questions, or do anything else. The test should not take over 30 minutes because it is timed, but I will be explaining the format later in class.
We will be meeting on the following Saturday (Jan. 31) at the library to discuss the test and do anything fun you guys want to do. After that, we will start covering the important topics at a faster pace so that you guys can have all the information needed for the invitational on April 18th.

Quiz for 1/8 will be online
There is a STEM meeting for you guys this Thursday at the Plymouth District Library, so there will be no Weather or Not meeting. Therefore, the quiz will be online and will only be on the Water Cycle.
